I needed to alert my personal blog readers which REELZ channel is going to be rebroadcasting the film Pope Joan upon New Year's Event and New Year's Day time. (Edited because of incorrect times becoming listed previously. )#) Dec 31st broadcast period is 4 pm hours EST, 1 pm PST as well as January 1st is going to be shown at 10 'm EST, 7 'm PST. Both episodes are shown to back.
The movie is actually divided into two parts which are each two hours long. I thought about the second night there have been to be interviews using the author, but those extras were put in other shows about the network to assist publicize the movie's broadcast and may also be found on their own website.
There were twenty five additional minutes towards the film from the actual theatrical release which i saw at the film festival. Getting only seen this once before, I am unsure of just how many things were added within the REELZ channel version that was not in the theatrical discharge.
There was 1 scene that seemed a new comer to me that may be worth noting. It is of the "trial" by Joan's father from the local midwife like a witch. She is thrown right into a river after becoming bound. After your woman drowns, Joan's father declares how the woman was innocent to be a witch which Heaven should possess mercy upon the woman's soul.
There was absolutely no attempt upon preserving her or through retrieving her corpse in the river. At minimum none shown upon screen.
Another scene Used to do not remember had been a raucous one within the bishop's palace. A Joan (Johanna) as well as her brother Steve (Johannes) key in the palace from dinnertime. They are reporting towards the schola, but she's to first show herself worthy in order to enter since enrolling a lady is unprecedented.
Because they enter the grand living area there are tables full of people eating as well as carousing. One man stacks up, bends over baring their backside and regards greet him as he offers the entertainment. Another person is actually holding a lighted candle whose fire is enhanced through the productive emissions out of this gaseous man.
Yes, the movie represents medieval fart illumination.
Having a small interlude like this takes away a few of the hyper-glossed shine many movies occur the medieval era in which the knights are dressed up in shining armor and also the ladies are wearing perfect lipstick, eyeshadow as well as mascara.
I suggest that any medievalist that hasn't watched this movie to create an attempt to view it tonight and tomorrow if at all possible. It is congratulations and depicts the problem women had within the ninth century. This movie could be enjoyed as real historical fiction if you don't believe that the actual legend of Pope Joan was depending on a real lady.
Speaking of middle ages mascara, I is going to be joining Carl Pyrdum quickly on his blog inside a (Bad) Middle ages Movie Review. We are critiquing the film Ever After starring Came Barrymore. Talk regarding your medieval mascara! I'll post a hyperlink here when that goes survive Carl's popular Obtained Medieval blog.
And finally, medievalist blogger Steven Till posted overview of my novel Quest from the Warrior Maid. This is a link to their review.
Here is wanting my blog readers to possess a happy, healthy as well as prosperous 2012.
